My name is Kelsey, and I run fuckyeahhope, or at least I used to before I stopped posting here. My personal blog is the-vashtanerada; some of you follow me on there.
If you could do me a favor, I would appreciate it. I was born with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, and I had open heart surgery when I was fifteen months old. I had a valve missing, and they reconstructed one for me. Now, I’m an adult, and my heart has grown, but the valve has not. I am basically going into congestive heart failure. I have no money because I cannot work, I’ve had to quit college because of this, and every insurance company I’ve applied to has turned me down because of my pre-existing conditions.
If you could read my story and pass it on, I would be incredibly grateful. The link is below. If you have questions, contact me on my personal blog (I also have an in-depth blog posted there, accessible on the sidebar of my Tumblr).
Thank you.

First of all, here’s this in case you missed it: http://the-vashtanerada.tumblr.com/post/16586607583/progress-and-a-semi-diagnosis
So. Alright, let me just say that I really liked the cardiologist. He was really nice, and he answered my questions (even though I froze and only asked one because that’s all I could think of).
Basically, I’m dumbfounded at everyone else. Like, I know that the other doctors weren’t cardiologists, but damn. He looked at my giant symptoms list, I had another EKG done, and he listened to my chest and back with his stethoscope, and BAM!, diagnosis (or part of one, anyway; still have to do the echo to confirm). It took him like ten minutes for all of this, and then he was spouting out problems that he noticed left and right.
The thing about my lungs that he was talking about that I kind of missed, because I was too focused on “your heart valve sucks” (paraphrasing of course), I THINK, after reading a little, is that they’re being compressed because they’re not getting enough oxygen, and that’s why I have trouble breathing.
So, anyway, I’m going to wear the holter monitor for 24-hours on January 31 (and I can’t shower with it on D:). Then, on February 3, I get the echo done so they can actually see the valves (mainly the pulmonary, because he thinks that’s the one that’s being an asshole). My follow up with Dr. Joshi is February 10.
He also said that I may need to see a specialist in the future instead of him, because he doesn’t necessarily deal with adult congenital heart defects, but he’s going to go ahead and do the preliminary testing/diagnosis so we can get it out of the way.
So, to answer the most pressing question (which was the one question that I could actually think to ask him): Yes, I definitely do have to have surgery if it’s what he thinks it is, whether it’s replacing the valve or ballooning the valve, but he sounded pretty confident that he knew what he was talking about. So yes.
No money was raised during the 24-hour timeframe.
Thank you for helping to spread the word, though.
It will run from now until tomorrow, Tuesday, January 24 at 8 AM CST.
The goal is to raise at least $4,000 during the timeframe. But it can’t be done without your help. Post the link everywhere, tell people the story and about the campaign today.

Tomorrow (or today, for some of you reading this) is the campaign for the fundraiser.
The goal is to raise $4,000+ in 24 hours, to bring the grand total to $15,000+ (30% of the total goal of $50,000). The campaign will start at 8 AM CST on Monday and run until 8 AM CST on Tuesday.
Please help spread the word; this absolutely cannot be done without your help. Word of mouth, Facebook posts, reblogs on Tumblr, tweets on Twitter, write the link on some Post-Its and stick them around town…whatever you can think of, post the link everywhere, and tell everyone about the campaign. Start a chain reaction. Ask your Facebook friends to repost the story, etc.
Again, the 24-hour campaign will run from Monday, January 23 at 8 AM Central Standard Time to Tuesday, January 24 at 8 AM Central Standard Time.
Hey guys, I just wanted to remind all of you that the 24-Hour Campaign for Save Kelsey’s Heart is going to be on Monday, January 23, starting at 8 AM CST. The campaign will run until the following morning, Tuesday, January 24, at 8 AM CST. (Also, please note that I’m super lazy and may not wake up at 8 AM, but I will certainly let you guys know if the goal has been reached as soon as I wake up!)
The goal is to raise $4,000+ in 24 hours, to hopefully get the total to around $15,000 (30% of the total goal of $50,000), so we’ll need everyone’s help! Email your friends, post the link to the fundraiser on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr (and any other social network you may be a part of). Also, actual word of mouth helps, too. I’m going to put the link on some sticky notes and leave them around town. *Please do not write directly on someone else’s property. This is not me supporting vandalism!*
Now, for updates. I know that some of you don’t follow my personal blog, which you’re more than welcome to do, by the way, so I’ll get you guys caught up on here. I finally have enough money in donations to be able to make an initial appointment with a cardiologist and have several tests done, if needed. I decided that I would go to my best friend’s cardiologist, because I had met him before, and Jarrod seemed to think that he would be able to help me. I tried to make an appointment a few days ago, and the receptionist called me back and said that he wouldn’t be able to see me because he doesn’t know anything about Tetralogy of Fallot. This angered me a little bit, because he’s a cardiologist at Baylor in Dallas, and he doesn’t know about one of the most common congenital heart defects in the world? Anyway, she said that she’d talked to the other cardiologists in the office, and they wouldn’t take me simply because I don’t have insurance, which angered me even more than Dr. Parmar’s reason for not seeing me. The receptionist gave me the name of another cardiologist at Parkland who might take me, so my next step is to try to call her office and make an appointment there.
I have another appointment on Monday (the same day as the campaign) with a new general physician to see about getting on anti-depressants or whatever she sees fit. I’ve had problems my whole life, but fittingly, I think, when you have heart problems, it sometimes makes depression even worse, which is what’s happening with me now. I imagine the added stress of being scared of all of this is probably not helping, either. So I’m going to try to get that taken care of and hopefully I’ll be in a better place in my life soon.
So that’s where I am right now.
Hey guys!
We’re holding an online campaign to raise at least $4,000 in 24 hours! This will get the donations to reach over $15,000! The campaign will start on Monday, January 23 at 8:00 AM and the donations will be tallied up on the morning of January 24 to see if the goal was reached. Donations will be accepted on the GiveForward page (http://giveforward.com/savekelseysheart). If you are unfamiliar with the fundraiser, you can go to the GiveForward page for more information or http://the-vashtanerada.tumblr.com.
Help spread the word; any form of support will help. Post the link on Facebook, send out emails, use social media, and, of course, word of mouth helps, too!
Thank you for helping, it is truly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Kelsey Milner
There’s a minimum donation of $10, but if you can scrape together even that, it could help to save a life.
Please note: The minimum donation of $10 is only applicable to PayPal users.
